Abstract:

How to reconcile diversity and integration in the multi-level European public space? Post-immigrant, ethno-religious groups face several challenges regarding their settlement in Europe, including the expression of collective identities; claims for representation and recognition; the role of religion in public space; and the increasing influence of diaspora and transnational politics. Join us for a discussion about an ongoing research project led by Riva Kastoryano that takes as a point of departure four normative approaches – multiculturalism, interculturalism, transnationalism and cosmopolitanism – to assess how the practice of integration and diversity management in Europe can be improved.

This is a hybrid event co-sponsored by the Weatherhead Research Cluster on Comparative Inequality and Inclusion and the Minda de Gunzburg Center for European Studies.
