The Weatherhead Center for International Affairs celebrates its sixtieth anniversary this fall. The Center has changed quite a bit since 1958: what began as four faculty has grown to include 236 Faculty Associates. Back then the Center included zero female faculty and students, and as of 2018 the Center's faculty is 30 percent female, and includes 91 graduate students and 25 undergrads. In 1958, the Center spent $29,500 funding research grants—compared to $1.1 million this year.

During the 2016 spring semester, Center Director Michèle Lamont created a series of special seminars focused on frontier questions in comparative inequality and social inclusion. Each seminar focused on a different form of inequality and was followed by a vibrant question-and-answer session.

The Samuel L. and Elizabeth Jodidi Lecture held on November 12, 2015 was delivered by His Highness the Aga Khan at Memorial Church, Harvard University.
